My current project has led me to another halt. In an attempt to quickly move past this I perused the basement of the library for some research material. I somehow found almost exactly what I was looking for, which is a stroke of luck that I am seldom afforded. One of the books I picked up is by Christopher Wool and it is titled Pattern Paintings 1987-2000. It is a very good publication and introduction to Christopher Wool’s work, which I will continue to study. Check out his website
Arthur Ganson is an artist that I am currently researching. Kinetic sculpture fascinates me and I will continue to delve into it. Gansons website is arthurganson.com
I am falling deeper and deeper in love with kinetic sculpture
2011 has been an interesting year.
These are a few of the moments I snapped along the way.
Theo Jansen
Pure genius. I have mused over this mans work for a long time.
This man is easily one of my top 3 favorite artists of all time. I constantly study his style. He is one of the FEW designers whose work demands that we remember that design can be considered art. As far as his illustration is concerned, there are no words. I am humbled weekly by his work.
Inspiration for current primary project
“Jason Lee is a multimedia sculptor and installation artist that incorporates a wide variety of materials and techniques into his oddly humorous constructions and presentations. In some of Lee’s most recent work he utilizes custom fabricated light boxes as well as cast plastic ducks and extruded foam fences to create his vision of the ideal landscape.” (WVU staff description)
Jason was my professor in one of my foundation art classes this previous semester, and he is a really rad dude. I enjoy his work quite a bit. I also enjoy his blatant no-bullshit teaching style. I hope to take more classes with him in the near future.
